Projecting national level durum wheat production under climate change scenarios
Objectives
Piloting a tool for providing the Ministry policymakers with a projection of durum wheat production for the period 2091-2100 under 1.5 scenario and 2°C scenarios using their respective CO2 levels in the future.
Outcomes
Durum wheat map for Tunisia.
Calibrated and validated gridded- model with specific genetic coefficients for prevailing varieties and management practices and using bias-corrected atmospheric forcing’s and the start of season soil moisture was initialized using LIS from NASA/GSFC.
Monitoring of monthly durum production at 30m resolution across the country using CHIRPS and ERA-Interim reanalysis data as daily climate forcing and crop management practices for 10 agroecological zones.
